Anam Cara Soul Services embraces the Community Deathcare Movement in Canada and exists to help individuals and families through the dying process via practical, emotional and spiritual support, as well planning, holding space, singing the soul home, and aftercare for loved ones.
I, Daria Skibington-Roffel and my company, Anam Cara Soul Solutions, acknowledge and honour the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprising the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations), as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including the Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
I am a community deathcare practitioner or "death doula", based in Airdrie, Alberta, Canada. Doula is a Greek word (δούλα) that means "woman who serves".
I have dedicated my life to a Path of Service; helping people find their way through the process of death and dying. Since 1992, I have worked and volunteered in palliative care, crisis intervention, funeral service, and spiritual care.
Wherever you are on your journey, I will walk with you.
Facing our mortality is difficult and can be a source of anxiety. I can help you through the process of integration of the upcoming changes. I can also help you navigate the 'system" and connect you to resources that can be helpful.
Thinking about death and practical matters can be daunting. I can help you and your loved ones through the process of planning ahead or navigating the process before, at, and after death.
Soul leading upon death is observed in almost every religious path. No one wants to die alone and when it is favourable, family and friends, along with spiritual leaders, try to be at the side of the dying one and attend to his or her needs at this most critical hour of life.
I will work with you to create and conduct a beautiful memorial or funeral service to celebrate life within any denomination, or completely non-denominational.
I provide educational workshops about navigating the system, how to plan ahead, how to settle practical matters, and how to support a loved one at end of life as well as care for oneself.
I also teach classes in transformation meditation.
II provide a number of spiritual services, including intuitive guidance, readings, 1:1 meditation sessions, pastoral care, grief support, and ceremonies to help through the healing process.
Our pets are family members and I believe they deserve the same reverence and care that we give to our human loved ones at end of life. I will provide any support that is needed: connection to resources for pet deathcare, euthanization and memorial services for pets. I am honoured to have been chosen by Leyden's Funeral Home to conduct the Annual Rainbow Bridge Memorial Service for those who are mourning the loss of a beloved pet.

As the Pandemic continues to spread, many people are in quarantine/practising physical distancing, and are unable to be with their loved ones at end of life. I have dedicated myself to soul-leading those who have died without their loved ones around, or someone to say words as their soul departs. If you are so inclined, please do the same as there are many who are between worlds who could use some encouragement.
It need not be anything fancy, just saying a prayer for those who need help crossing over.Below is the prayer that I am saying to help sing the souls of those who died without a soul friend home:
Tonight and every night, I reach out to, and pray for, those who have died alone; to those without loved ones to grieve, to pray for them, or see them on their way; to those who stand at the Gateway with hesitation.
I stand with you as your Companion to help you find your way. Know that you are loved; not alone; and that it is okay to move forward.
As you step across the threshold, you will be greeted by the Ancestors, your beloved Mighty Dead; and the Divine in whatever form you believe.
You go home to your Home of Autumn, Winter, Spring, and Summer. You go home to the Blessed Realms; to the restful haven of the waveless sea.
I hold the gate open for you and wish you many blessings as you embark on the next steps of your souls' journey.
May you find peace. May you find your way home. May you know you are loved and that all is well for you now.
May you be forever blessed.
